Types of Breast Cancer That Every Woman Must Know

Different types of breast cancer are something that every woman must be aware of. While breast cancer becomes one of the most common tumors to occur in women, it is wise for a woman to learn the case further and do some prevention.

Breast cancer itself is capable to influence either the glands which create milk (the lobules) or the cells of the milk ducts. Depending on where cancer affects the part of your body, the doctor often classifies it into two: lobular or ductal cancer.

Meanwhile, doctors often categorize this cancer based on their potential to spread within the patient’s body. In this case, the spread can be to the other fractions of the breasts or another body part.

Types of breast cancer that are invasive have the capability to spread to other parts of your body or beyond the lobules or ducts. Meanwhile, noninvasive breast cancer tends to stay or never spread to anywhere outside the lobules or ducts

Top 2 Most Common Forms of Breast Cancer

When it comes to different kinds of breast cancer, we shouldn’t forget to mention invasive ductal carcinoma. This is the most common cancer that grows in the breasts and the rate of its occurrence is around 70 to 80 percent of cases compared to others.

Invasive ductal carcinoma is common for both cases of male and female breast cancer. This type of cancer starts in the inside layer of someone’s milk ducts and may spread over. Before this cancer grows, a precaution state named ductal carcinoma in situ may happen.

These types of breast cancer are more likely to spread into the breast’s fatty tissues. However, considering its nature, invasive ductal carcinoma can also spread to other organs besides breasts. Furthermore, lobular carcinoma type of cancer can be enveloping as well.

Invasive lobular carcinoma is the next common form of breast cancer with around 10 percent of cases in women. Unlike the previous type, this one starts in the glands that generate milk. Once spreading, it will reach the breast’s fatty tissues and other body parts.

Other Forms of Breast Cancer to Be Aware Off

In addition to the two most common types of breast cancer above, there are also inflammatory breast cancer and Paget’s disease of the nipple. If your doctor refers to breast cancer that is aggressive and rare, it should be inflammatory breast cancer.

While inflammatory breast cancer only rates around one to five percent among the entire cases in women, this type of cancer shouldn’t be overlooked as well. Some people may notice this cancer as cellulitis or mastitis because both have similar symptoms.

Meanwhile, Paget’s disease of the nipple is the rarest since it only takes one perfect of all breast cancer cases out there. Rather than a lump, the signs of Page’s disease include irritation and redness that increase in the nipple and areola area.

All in all, breast cancer is categorized into several different types according to its spread potential and where it starts to develop. By knowing each symptom of these types of breast cancer, it will be easier to notice if something happens in your body.
